Announced date: what this register will record
An announced date is one published by the company that makes or serves the model, on a page a reader can open. Press coverage is not an announcement, a support reply is not one, and a model quietly leaving a menu is not one either, however reliable the inference. As of 2026-09-22.

Inclusion rule. The standard applied to every row in this register. A statement has to be published by the party making it, on a page reachable without an account. Order. What is recorded first, then what is declined.
1Verifiability is the whole product
Every row here has to be checkable by a reader six months later, which rules out anything that cannot be reopened: a forum post, a conversation, an inference from output. Those can all be true and none of them can be audited.
The cost is a thinner record. The benefit is that the thin parts can be trusted, which is the trade this register makes in every column.
2An absence is recorded as an absence
Where no date exists, the cell says no date announced rather than estimating one. That is not a prediction that a model will continue; it is a statement about what the vendor has said.
Filling those cells with reasonable guesses would make the register look finished and make every figure in it unverifiable. The blank date question sets that out.
3Two dated readings are the substitute for an announcement
Where a page changes without any notice, the evidence is the same page read twice with both dates kept. That detects a change after it happened and never predicts one.
It is the only mechanism available for eleven of the sixteen entries here, and it is why the data file is more useful as a series than as a snapshot.
