When the plan you bought is the default
Partner models here are named tier by tier, so the set a project can reach follows from the plan rather than from a default setting. The house video model spans the tiers; two partner lines sit in the premium plan and another a tier below, which makes the subscription the deciding factor. As of 2026-09-22.
| What the page is asked | What Adobe Firefly publishes | What that leaves open |
|---|---|---|
| Is a starting tier stated | Not as a setting, but as a consequence of the plan | The subscription decides the reachable set |
| Which models sit where | Two partner lines in premium, one a tier below | Published explicitly, tier by tier |
| Is the house model tier-gated too | It spans the tiers as the in-house line | So the constant is the company's own model |
| What changes the default here | A plan change, not a product setting | Which is a commercial decision |
Inclusion rule. Filled when the entry's own public page says which model a new project starts on, or when a single-model menu makes the answer follow from the list having one line. Order. What the plan comparison publishes first, then what moves it.
1Tier gating turns a purchase into a default
Where every model is reachable, a default is a setting somebody can change. Where models are gated by plan, the default is decided at the checkout and is stable until the subscription changes.
That is a more durable arrangement than an unstated setting and it moves the risk. A customer keeps the models their tier names until the tier itself is restructured, which is a pricing event rather than a product one.
2Publishing the mapping is the useful part
Naming which partner model sits in which plan is more detail than most entries give, and it is what makes the gating legible. A reader can tell exactly which subscription reaches which engine before paying.
It is also a snapshot. Nothing says a model stays in the tier it is named in, and the mapping is the element most likely to move without any model being retired.
3The house line is the constant one
Because the in-house video model spans the tiers, the engine every customer can reach is this company's own, and the partner lines are the variable. For a production that is the opposite of the usual arrangement, where the house model is the premium option.
The consequence is recorded in the succession reading: losing access to a partner engine does not require anybody to retire it.
